Alabama Boat Transport

Alabama Boat Transporters have to follow the Alabama state DOT regulations at all times. The Alabama state regulations regulate the following parameters for Boat Transportation:

A Boat Transportation Company when transporting an oversize boat in Alabama, the hours of operation are regulated. Generally, the hours of operation are a ½ hour before sunrise and ½ hour after sunset.
Alabama also regulates the hours of operation in metropolitan cities. Generally, this is around rush hour traffic. This means that a truck cannot operate within the major city limits during these hours. Experienced Boat Transporters are aware of this DOT regulation and adhere to it judiciously.

At all times when transporting a boat in Alabama that is of oversize in nature, a current permit is required to haul any boat through or across the state. A boat is considered oversize when it exceeds 8.6 feet wide and 14 feet tall, loaded.
Boat transport service in Alabama when a boat exceeds 12 feet wide it requires two escorts at all times when moving. This is a real headache, especially when on highway 10 it is less than 100 miles long!

Alabama also requires a pilot car when the height exceeded 14 feet tall loaded. That means after the boat is loaded the overall height is measured and a pilot car will be required if it exceeds 14 feet tall.

Alabama has really only one major area for loading large boats for transport. Most of the loading facilities are in the Mobile area. Boat Transporting in Alabama can be more difficult but if you simply follow AL DOT rules you won’t have any problems, so work with a professional Boat Transporter.
